    In this festival each work on this program explores the meaning of loss. Katherine Balch’s poignant reimagining of Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Iranian-born Aida Shirazi’s meditation on exile with texts by acclaimed poet Sholeh Wolpe, and new works by Matthew Ricketts and Charlotte Bray.

  • Arlington Chorale , through a collaboration with ReactDC, working to connect with the new Afghan refugees is excited to present a world premiere by Saunder Choi! This piece uses text by Sholeh Wolpé, an Iranian-born poet, playwright, and librettist, to describe the difficulties refugees face in leaving their homes and putting down roots in a new community.
