A short film featuring Sholeh Wolpé’s memoir in verse, Abacus of Loss.

ALMAS presents poet Sholeh Wolpé and tar virtuoso Sahba Motallebi on a sumptuous journey in poetry and music through the stunning landscapes of Joshua Tree and 19 Palms in California.

Sponsored by Univeristy of Toronto in Canada, in celebration of Persian new year (Nowruz) and inauguration of their new Persian Center.

Facing social isolation because of COVID-19, Sholeh Wolpé decided to begin a video series addressing the spiritual pandemic ravaging our world. She felt that now more than ever, it was imperative we connect with one another soul-to-soul.

Therefore, using her modern translation of Sufi mystic Attar's THE CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS, she reached out to her viewers by a series of video where she opens the book at a random page, reads and talks about it.

Come take the journey with her. There are 6 episodes. Begins with Soul-to-Soul 1. Then progress at your own pace.

Now in audio book format, you can listen to actor Fajer Al-Kaisi narrate The Conference of the Birds. Available from AUDIBLE.COM
